The Holy Bible is a testament, a testimony of Jesus Christ. It reveals the teachings of Christ, his life and ministry. The Bible teaches us about the birth, life, challenges, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The bible increases our faith in Christ each time we read it. John, the Beloved, even said that he wrote the Gospel of John so that it would increase faith in the mind and hearts of all those who read and study it.
The Book of Mormon, like the Bible, is a testament of Jesus Christ; hence, it is The Book of Mormon:Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It too contains the teachings of and about Jesus Christ. In particular, it contains the record of Christ’s visit to the America’s shortly after His resurrection.
Three days after Jesus’ resurrection, He appeared to Mary Magdalene, Peter, other women, Luke and Cleopas on the road to Emmaus, the apostles in the upper room, the apostles again in the upper room, to seven of the apostles who were fishing on the Sea of Galilee, to a group of about 500 men, women, and children on a mountain in Galilee, to James-the brother of Jesus who became an apostles, and to the apostles on the Mount of Olives when He ascended into heaven. Jesus appeared many other times, we just don’t have a record of it. We are fortunate and blessed to have the revealed word that we do.
Just as Jesus appeared to individuals and groups of people in the Old Jerusalem world, He appeared in America. This particular occasion was when He appeared to Nephites in the City of Bountiful at the temple. He showed to them the prints of the nails in His hands and feet, and His pierced side. The multitude felt the prints of Jesus’ special wounds and worshipped Him.
I testify that Jesus did visit the people in America as a resurrected being, that He taught the multitude His gospel, and called 12 special disciples to serve as apostles, just like He did in Jerusalem when He established His church in the meridian of time.
I know the Book of Mormon is true, that it is another witness of Jesus Christ. If you will study it, pray and ask God if it is true, then the Holy Ghost will bear witness to you that the book is true, that it is the keystone of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the Lord’s true church on the earth today. I know God lives, that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer.
